After graduating in 1988 from Drexel University in Philadelphia, USA with a BS in Business Administration and Marketing, Mary relocated to the San Francisco area to start her career with a Silicon Valley fiber optic start-up venture. As the company grew from $30K-$15 million in sales, Mary was instrumental in establishing a joint venture company with the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications in Shenzhen, China, and served as a founding International Advisory Board member.
In early 2007, Mary channeled her skills and expertise into the world of international education by moving to Beirut, Lebanon to help co-found an internationally recognized IB World School. The school grew quickly from 22 students to over 400 students in just four years and has achieved authorization for three of the International Baccalaureate (IB) programs, namely the Primary Years, Middle Years and Diploma programs. The school promoted an inquiry-based, high tech, student centered, and action-oriented learning environment.
While in Lebanon, Mary has also subcontracted with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), offering workshops on Interviewing and Resume Writing skills for youth in South Lebanon. In 2013, Mary completed a diploma in Sustainable International School Governance from the European Council of International Schools, and in 2017, she got her Master’s in Global and International Education from Drexel University. Then Mary has worked with IBE on a variety of education projects in Lebanon, the MENA region and China, focusing on leadership coaching, strategic planning and communication planning for both start-up and existing school projects.
